Use Lection in ChatGPT

Lection gives ChatGPT the same tools as the Claude connector: YouTube research with no sign-in, and account tools for your schedules and runs after you sign in. The ChatGPT plugin directory listing is coming soon, so for now you add the connector yourself.

Requires: ChatGPT with developer mode for custom connectors. The YouTube tools need no account. Account tools need a free Lection account.

What it does

Works without an account

Search YouTube, list a channel latest uploads or pull top comments on a public video. Up to 20 rows per call.

Account tools after sign-in

Check your plan, list schedules and runs, open saved scrape rows and set up or pause schedules.

Same server as MCP clients

ChatGPT connects to the same endpoint used by Cursor and VS Code, so the tools match.

Set it up

4 steps, about ten minutes the first time.

  1. 1

    Turn on developer mode

Open ChatGPT settings and enable developer mode, which lets you add your own MCP connectors.

  2. 2

    Add a new connector

Create a connector named Lection and paste https://www.lection.app/mcp as the MCP server URL.

  3. 3

    Sign in for account tools

The YouTube tools work straight away. For schedules and runs, ChatGPT starts the Lection sign-in. Approve access with your Lection account.

  4. 4

Try a prompt in a new chat

Start a new chat, select the Lection connector if ChatGPT asks, and ask for YouTube research or your schedules.

What you can ask

  • Show the top YouTube videos about n8n automation tutorials.
  • List the latest videos from @OpenAI.
  • Get the top comments on this YouTube video: <paste the link>.
  • What are my Lection schedules, and did the last runs succeed?
  • Show the rows from my saved scrape "competitor prices".
  • Schedule my saved scrape weekly and deliver it to Google Sheets.

Directory listing

The Lection listing in the ChatGPT plugin directory is coming soon. Until it is live, add the connector in developer mode with the steps above.

Privacy

  • The YouTube tools read public data through the official YouTube Data API. Results are returned to your chat.
  • Account tools only read or change your own Lection data, and only after you sign in with OAuth.
  • Creating or pausing a schedule happens in your own account and respects your plan limits.

Example use cases

Content research on YouTube

Find the videos ranking for a keyword, then pull comments to see what viewers ask about.

Schedule checks before a meeting

Ask for your schedules and their last status to confirm that the data you are about to present is fresh.

Setting up a recurring export

Pick a saved scrape, set a cadence and let ChatGPT create the schedule after you confirm the details.

Frequently asked questions

Is Lection in the ChatGPT plugin directory?

Not yet. The directory listing is coming soon. Until then, add the connector in developer mode with https://www.lection.app/mcp.

Do I need a Lection account?

Not for the YouTube tools. Schedules, runs and saved scrapes need a free Lection account, and you sign in when ChatGPT asks.

Which tools does ChatGPT get?

The same set as Claude: Three YouTube tools (search, channel uploads, comments), a help tool for Instagram and LinkedIn exports, and seven account tools for your plan, saved scrapes, schedules and runs, plus creating and pausing schedules.

Can ChatGPT change my schedules?

It can create a schedule or pause one. Both tools ask the assistant to confirm with you first.
